A Guide to Malá Strana: Prague's Lesser Town

Malá Strana, Prague's Lesser Town, sits directly below the Castle on the west bank of the Vltava — a short, flat walk from Charles Bridge and Old Town Square, but noticeably quieter than either. Its cobbled streets, baroque gardens and small squares make it one of the most pleasant parts of the city to simply wander.

Staying here means starting each day a few minutes' walk from the Castle gates, with the rest of the city easily reachable on foot or by tram.
